Back Loop Only Single Crochet is an effective
-and easy- ribbing for any crochet sweater. It also looks great
with Tunisian Stockinette Stitch, Flat Rib, and both Single and
Double Moss Stitch. (These are shown in the Tunisian Crochet Link)
- After the ribbing is completed, turn the work sidewise and
do not chain 1. The loop on the hook is the loop for the
last row of ribbing that was done.
- (I like to add about 50% more stitches right away to the
body and sleeves when working in Tunisian Crochet. This gives the
sweater some fullness and still lets the ribbing be a bit
snug.) Pull up a loop in the end of each row across, and in the
top back ridge loop of each starting chain(Where the ridge of the
ribbing faces you). There will be three loops on the hook for every
2 rows of ribbing.
- Work off the loops in the normal manner.
- Continue in pattern.
