FASHION HAT (Child/Adult)
Phentex Dynasty
NOTE: Color changes may be made at the start of the rows

Materials:
5.00 mm Hook or size needed to obtain gauge.
100 grams of Phentex Dynasty Yarn or other Aran (heavy worsted) Yarn
[17 - 18 sts = 10 cm.]

Gauge:
4 DC = 1 inch
2 Rows in Double Crochet = 1 inch
Starting Chain 3 counts as first DC

Abbreviation: SSJ means Slip Stitch to 3rd chain of starting chain.

Instructions:
Crown:
Chain 4, Slip stitch in 1st chain to form ring.

• Row 1: Chain 3, 11 DC in ring. Slip Stitch to 3rd chain of starting chain. [SSJ] (12 DC)
• Row 2: Chain 3, DC in same stitch, 2 DC in each stitch around. SSJ (24 DC)
• Row 3: Ch 3, DC in same stitch, DC in next st. * 2 DC in next st, 1 DC in next st.*
  Repeat from * to * around. SSJ (36 DC)
• Row 4: Ch 3, DC in same st [DC in each of next 2 sts] . * 2 DC in next st, [DC in each of next 2 sts] *
  Repeat from * to * around. SSJ (48 DC)
• Row 5: Ch 3, DC in same st [DC in each of next 3 sts] * 2 DC in next st, [DC in each of next 3 sts] *
  Repeat from * to * around. SSJ (60 DC)
• Row 6 Child only: Ch 3, DC in same st [DC in each of next 9 sts] * 2 DC in next st,
  [DC in each of next 9 sts] Repeat from * to * around. SSJ (66 DC)
• Row 6Adult Only: Ch 3, DC in same st [DC in each of next 4 sts]. * 2 DC in next st,
  [DC in each of next 4 sts] * Repeat from * to * around. SSJ (72 DC)

Side of Hat:
Instructions:
Chain 3, Dc in next and every stitch around. SSJ
Child's Hat: Work 6 Rows
Adult's hat: Work 8 Rows
Both Hats: At the end of the last row, Chain 1, TURN
Next Row: Back Loop Only single Crochet around. SSJ

Brim:
Row 1 Child's hat: Ch 3, DC in same st, [DC in each of next 4 sts], 2 DC in next st,
[DC in each of next 5 Sts.] * 2 DC in next st, [DC in each of next 4 sts],
2 DC in next st, [DC in each of next 5 sts]*
Repeat from * to * around. SSJ (78 DC)

Row 1 Adult's Hat: Ch 3, DC in same st, [DC in each of next 5 sts] * 2 DC in next st [DC in each of next 5 sts]*.
Repeat from * to * around. SSJ (84 DC)

Both hats:
Rows 2 and 3: Ch 3, DC in next and every st around. SSJ
Row 4: Back Loop Only SC around. SSJ
Rows 5 and 6: Ch 3, DC in next and every st. SSJ. At end of row 6, Fasten Off leaving long tail for sewing.

Finishing:
Fold brim on Row 4 [BLO sc] and sew the Back Loops of the last row of DC to the horizontal loops
of first row of BLO sc. Fold completed brim up.

Weave in all loose ends.

STARS FOR CHILD'S HAT -MAKE 6

Row 1: Ch 2, 5 sc in 2nd chain. Join with slip stitch to first sc.
Row 2: **Ch 5, sc in 3rd ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, ss in next sc in row 1.
Repeat from ** 3 more times.
Ch 5, , sc in 3rd ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, ss in in joining ss.
Leave 18 inch tail for sewing.
