The purpose for this page was to create a graph
using the basic programs
available in Microsoft 2000. In this case -the "Excel" spreadsheet.
- The cells were adjusted to
approximately the shape of the stitches.
- Set the number of rows and columns to correspond with the
needed number of stitches and rows for the project.
- Fill each cell using the fill tool and the color you want. If
different stiches are also used, a "legend" may be needed.
- Copy the completed graph and paste it to a Word document for
printing or in to the Paint application to convert it to gif or
jpg.
- The Paint application will automatically become a Bitmap image
(50 Kb) or it can be saved as a gif (5 Kb) or jpg (6 Kb).
The graph is read from the Bottom to the top and from Right to
Left.
Changing colors:
- Stripes wider than 3 stitches should use separate balls of
yarn. Alternating block 2 stitches wide -the yarn can be carried
across the back.
- Forward Row: Drop old color in back, pick up new color.
- Return Row: At 1 loop before color change, new color comes up
from under old color, YO and pull through 2 loops. If this isn't
done, there will be a hole at the color change.
