SIMPLE FlOWER

Red flower done in #10 thread;
Green flower in 28 st baby yarn.

Done in 28 stitch or thinner yarn with a 2.25 mm hook or smaller to give it some firmness,
this flower and the leaf below make a nice decoration for a baby jacket.
Ch 9
3 dc in 3rd ch from hook, and each of next 3 ch
2 trc in each of next 2 ch
2 dc in next chain

Fasten off. Leave 8 inch end for sewing

Roll beg 2-sk ch end over sts to form flower
With needle and yarn end, tack thru base to secure
Leave ends long to secure flower to leaf base.

Instructions for single leaf
R1: Ch 4, 11 dc in 4th ch from hook. Join with sl st to top of beg ch.
R2: Ch 1, sc in same st
LEAF: ch 8 loosely

  1. Sc in 2nd ch
  2. Dc in next ch
  3. Tr in next 3 chs
  4. Dc in next ch
  5. Sc in next ch
    Sc in next dc
    2 sc in ea of last 10 dc
    Join with slst to first sc

    Leaf Edging

    1. Ch 1, working in free lps of beg ch of leaf, sc in next 7 ch, ch 2, sc in ea sc of leaf.
    2. Slst in sc on base.

      If 3 leaves are wanted- after the first leaf is made:

      1. *Sc in next 3 dc
      2. Repeat row 2 (above)*
      3. Repeat from * to * for 2nd and 3rd leaf
      4. 2 sc in ea of the rem dc
      5. Join with slst to first scDo Leaf edging
        Use Yarn ends from flower to fasten leaf base to flower
        Use either green thread or the same yarn as for the leaves to sew the flower and leaf to the garment.

This is really half of the leaf but makes a nice table decoration.
For a full leaf, work row 1 in to the unused loops of the start chain.

[ch 6, work back along these 6 ch w/ 1 sc in each chain

I decided not to make the thread version.

Rnd 1: 13 sc in ring. SSJ. Fasten off.
Rnd 2: Using 2nd color make 1 petal into the front loop
of each sc of rnd 1
[1 sc, ch 5, 1 sc in 2nd chain frm hk,
1 hdc in ea of next 2 ch,
1 sc in next ch, 1 sc in 1st sc at beg]
Total 13 petals.
Rnd 3: Make 1 petal into back loop of each sc of rnd 1
[1 sl st, ch 6, 1 sc in 5 of these 6 ch].
Total of 13 petals.
Fasten off.
