Stitch Variations

This page will show several easy stitch variations using the Tunisian Simple Stitch (Tss) and the Tunisian Purl Stitch (Tps).
I find these stitch variations, done in baby yarn, useful for children's scarves.

Stitch Abbreviations:
Tss isTunisian Simple Stitch
Tps isTunisian Purl Stitch
Tks isTunisian Knit Stitch
TwTss isTwisted Tunisian Simple Stitch
XTss [2 stitches] is Crossed Tunisian Simple Stitch
Tss2Tog is 2 Tunisian Simple Stitches Together

First, of course, is the Simple Stitch itself.

Crossed Stitches:
Uses a multiple of 2 chains.
Skip second vertical loop, pull up a loop in the third vertical loop, then the skipped vertical loop.
*Skip a vertical loop, pull up a stitch in the next vertical loop, then the skipped loop. Repeat from * across to the last loop.
Finish the Row. Work the usual Return row.

Two variations are shown:
1. *1 row crossed stitches, 1 row simple stitch. Repeat from * for length of fabric.

2. Every row is crossed stitches.

Bind Off may be done either in crossed stitches or simple stitch.

A pattern stitch using Crossed stitches with Tunisian Purl Stitch(Tps).

Basic Rib Stitch
Note: this is not ribbing.
Multiple of 8 + 4
Row 1: basic Forward and Return Rows
Row 2: Tss in next 3 stitches, *Tps in next 4 stitches, Tss in next 4 stitches. Repeat from * across.
Repeat row 2 for pattern.
Bind Off Row can be in pattern.
Alternate Twisted Tunisian Simple Stitch and Tunisian Simple Stitch.
Twisted Stitch:
Insert hook from left to right and work a Simple Stitch.
I found that almost impossible -however...
Place hook over the vertical loop and 'snag' the loop.
Next roll the hook -with yarn-under the vertical loop,
YO and pull a loop through.
Done correctly, the twisted loop will be close to the Simple Stitch;
if done incorrectly, the twisted stitch will appear much tighter than normal and will not move over. Multiple of 2

Row 1: Basic Forward and Return Rows.
Row 2: Alternate Simple Stitch and Twisted Simple Stitch across row.
Repeat Row 2 for pattern.

Bind Off either in pattern or in Simple Stitch.

Moss Stitch with Twisted Tunisian Simple Stitch:

Repeat from * to last 7 stitches, then TwTss, Tss, TwTss,[Tps,Tss]2x.
Row 3: Tss, Tps, Tss,*[TwTss, Tss]2x, [Tps,Tss]3x,
Repeat from * to last 7 stitches, then [TwTss, Tss]2x,Tps.Tss.Tss.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 for pattern.
